Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork Delight Recipe

Sweet and Sour Pork

Ingredients:

- 500g pork loin or tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, cut into chunks
- 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
- For the sweet and sour sauce:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons of water

Instructions :

1. In a bowl, season the pork pieces with salt and pepper. Dip each piece of pork into the beaten egg, then coat with cornstarch.


2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the pork pieces in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove the pork from the oil and drain on paper towels.


3. In a separate bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce: ketchup, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Set aside.


4. In the same skillet or wok, remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the bell pepper and onion chunks and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.


5. Add the pineapple chunks to the skillet and cook for another minute.


6. Pour the sweet and sour sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.


7. Once the sauce starts to thicken, add the fried pork pieces back into the skillet, tossing to coat them evenly with the sauce.


8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the pork is heated through and the sauce has thickened.


9. Serve the Sweet and Sour Pork hot over steamed rice.
